There was certainly a lot to be thankful for last month—and here at Frost Science, we counted our lucky stars (turns out, they’re among the 200 billion that make up the Milky Way galaxy alone) for our community. Last month, you reached out to help support our mission with both your presence and generous donations. And with that kind of partnership, the cosmos are the limit!
Give Miami Day
On November 16, we celebrated one of the biggest annual giving events in the United States—Give Miami Day. All donations made that day were maximized by a bonus gift from the Miami Foundation and its partners.
Thanks to your generous support, we raised over $4,000! Those contributions help us carry out our mission to inspire and connect people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy science and technology, and to better understand themselves and our world.
Laser Fridays
The 80s are making a comeback… or at least, the Frost Planetarium certainly thinks so. Last month, we premiered the 80s Show, a laser light throwback featuring the greatest hits of the “decade of decadence.” Michael Jackson, Queen, Nirvana and the Foo Fighters also lit up the screen after guests enjoyed drink and food specials in the Main Atrium.
The Science of Cheese
It ain’t easy being cheesy, or… is it? On Thursday, November 30, our Young Patrons and Whole Foods Market hosted “The Science of Cheese” with Cathy Strange, one of the world’s leading authorities on all things cheese. Cathy, who serves as Whole Foods Market’s global executive coordinator and has been their global cheese buyer for more than a decade, led guests on a savory journey through their “12 Days of Cheese Pairings” program. Over 200 attendees were delighted with the variety of pairings, including the Vermont Creamery Bonne Bouche and Holy Snail Sauvignon Blanc, Rapin La Marechal and Empire Estate Riesling, and Rogue Creamery Enraptured Blue and Undaunted Malbec. Kite Hill vegan cheeses and Vosges Chocolate were also available for everyone to enjoy.
There’s plenty more happening at Frost Science next month, too. Be sure to visit our calendar of events for more details on our schedule.
