Art meets science under the 67-foot dome
The Frost Planetarium is a collaborative space for community partners, visualization researchers and full dome artists to work with the museum to create and showcase new immersive experiences for the public. From educational films such as full dome documentary shorts or full-length planetarium shows, to more artistic endeavors such as those seen during Laser Evenings or nightLAB, each residency produces a unique experience, united by the common aim of inspiring guests to engage with science, technology and the wider world.

FilmGate Fusion @ Frost Science

“UniVERSE” with O, Miami
UniVERSE is an original 3–5-minute film created collaboratively by the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and O, Miami with Topos Graphics. This project features poetry written by Miami-Dade County residents and K-12 students, illustrating the wonders of space and the beauty of South Florida’s land and bodies of water. Designed to be screened in the Frost Planetarium as pre-show content, UniVERSE leverages the planetarium’s advanced 16-million-color 8K projection system, surround sound, and expansive dome screen to transport viewers on a visual journey through outer space, the Everglades, and vibrant coral reefs.
MDC MAGIC
The Frost Planetarium has partnered with Miami Dade College’s Animation and Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) to develop a student-produced fulldome planetarium trailer for museum guests to enjoy before shows. The trailer, set to premiere in Spring 2025, takes audiences on a journey through space and time from the outer reaches of the Solar System to the oceans of the Cretaceous Period and beyond.
