With nearly two decades of experience in marketing, public relations, and community engagement, Joseph A. Quiñones is a dedicated professional with a passion for culture and the vital role that museums play in our society.
In his role as Senior Vice President of External Affairs, Quiñones plays a pivotal role in shaping the museum’s identity and mission. He is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies that cover all aspects of the museum’s programs, events, and initiatives. These efforts are aimed at building brand awareness and engaging a diverse range of audiences, ensuring the museum’s mission reaches far and wide. He also oversees marketing and promotional events, contributing to the creation of a vibrant and dynamic cultural hub within the community. He actively participates in enhancing the museum’s community engagement, collaborating on the planning and execution of a wide variety of events that offer educational and enriching experiences for visitors.
Quiñones provides strategic direction in various areas, including public programming, government relations, marketing, design, and external communications, as well as management of the museum’s membership program and the operation of the Science Store. He also leads the institution’s advancement efforts, working to secure philanthropic support that sustains exhibits, operations, programs, and strategic partnerships aimed at advancing the Frost Science mission.
Prior to joining Frost Science in 2014, Quiñones honed his skills in media relations, strategic partnerships, and marketing initiatives while working with local public relations agencies and print media publications. His academic background includes a Master of Science in global strategic communications and a Bachelor of Science in communications, both earned at Florida International University.
Quiñones is a member of both the Global Trends Committee and the Conference Program Planning Committee (CPPC) for the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC). He also serves on the Arts, Culture & Entertainment (ACE) Committee at the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA), and the Marketing Committee of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB). Beyond his professional endeavors, he resides in North Miami with his husband and their rescue cat, Binx.
