G. Trevor Powers joined Frost Science in the summer of 2013, and is responsible for developing the new facility’s operational program, which he will continue to manage once the building is complete. This program includes the operation and maintenance of the building’s architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems as well as specialty systems such as the interactive exhibits and the life support systems for the aquariums.
Powers’ engineering career began in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a submarine nuclear power plant operator and quality assurance inspector. Thereafter, Powers was the Director of Technical Operations for an engineering services firm in Atlanta, GA, where he and his team performed energy modeling/auditing and management, sustainability consulting, building commissioning, indoor air quality assessments and building forensics for corporate, not-for-profit and governmental clients across the United States.
Powers holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a certificate in management essentials from Emory University. He is a registered professional engineer in Florida and Alabama, and a certified energy manager and LEED-accredited professional.
