James Weller joined Frost Science in February of 2024 and is responsible for the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of Living Collection Life Support and Water Quality.
Weller started his career with the U.S. Navy, serving as a nuclear power plant operator and work center supervisor. After his service, Weller joined the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, progressing from children’s zoo attendant to a senior-level Operations role. Before returning to non-profit leadership, Weller was an Area Manager overseeing the operation of over a dozen Amazon Web Services Data Center facilities in the DC metro area.
Weller has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Public Service, as well as a certificate in non-profit management from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Certified Interpretive Guide, First Aid and CPR instructor and a former Americorps Historical Educator of the Year.
Weller has ridden a motorcycle across country, whitewater rafted in the Alps, and built an off-grid cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains among other achievements. Outside of work, he enjoys time in nature with his wife and two sons creating new adventures.
