The City Nature Challenge is an international four-day event for people to find and document plants and wildlife around them, in cities around the world. It’s a bioblitz-style competition rooted in citizen science. Help the South Florida team go up against other global cities to see who can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people!
You can participate from anywhere: your backyard, a local park, or even underwater! Log into iNaturalist.com or download the app. Then, get outside! Submit your plant and wildlife observations between April 26th and 29th to join the effort.
Community Service Hours
We know many environmentally-minded students are looking for volunteer opportunities. Here’s how to receive service hours for participating in City Nature Challenge:
-
Create a FREE account on iNaturalist.
-
Get outside and photograph plants and wildlife, or evidence of them.
-
Upload these photos either through the iNaturalist smartphone app or inaturalist.org
-
Email muve@frostscience.org with your username so we can confirm you have uploaded observations. Please include your full name in the subject line.
-
For every 10 observations you will receive an hour of community service. We will award a maximum of 10 hours, or 100 observations, per person.
